Terms & Conditions
Fair terms for a free tool.
Using the workspace or the obfuscation API means accepting the terms below. The short version: use the service lawfully, submit only source there is a right to process, and respect the rate limit.
Last updated: September 16, 2026.
1. Operator and service
Azure Obfuscator (“the service”) is operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME - PLACEHOLDER]. The legal operator name is still to be confirmed; it's shown as a placeholder until then.
The service provides a Lua and Luau obfuscation workspace: source goes in through the page or a POST to /api/obfuscate, and a generated artifact comes back for copy or download. The tool is free, has no accounts, and requires no sign-in. Contact is available through the Azure Discord community, and live service health is published on the status page.
2. Acceptable use
The service must not be used to break the law, to probe or disrupt the service or its providers, to circumvent the 60-requests-per-60-seconds rate limit, or to resell access without permission. Abuse leads to throttling or blocking at the edge.
Submitted source is transmitted to the Azure obfuscation service for processing, so files containing passwords, API keys, or other secrets should be cleaned before submission.
Generated output can be wrong or incomplete; the person relying on it remains responsible for reviewing it first. Obfuscation raises the effort required to inspect source; it is not a guarantee against analysis or modification.
3. Availability
The service is provided on a best-effort basis with no uptime guarantee. The frontend never simulates a result: when the service is unavailable, the workspace reports the failure instead of inventing output.
4. Content and intellectual property
Rights in submitted source stay with the submitter, and rights in the generated artifact belong to the same party. Nothing submitted grants the operator ownership of private code.
The Azure interface, documentation, and brand assets remain the property of the operator. Nothing in these terms grants a license to copy or re-host the service itself.
Interface type is set in Instrument Sans, Instrument Serif, and JetBrains Mono, each distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
5. Payments
There is no checkout, no paid tier, and no charge for use, so no refund, cancellation, or revision policy applies. If paid service is ever introduced, these terms will be updated first.
6. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the same maximum extent, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
7. Changes to these terms
Material changes are announced on the changelog. Continued use of the service after the posted update date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
